Adelphi Community Update on COVID-19

Dear Adelphi Community,

Earlier this evening, the University learned of two nonresidential students in our community who tested positive for COVID-19. Both students had no symptoms when they were last on campus. After consulting with both the New York State and Nassau County Departments of Health (DOH), Adelphi has confirmed that these are noncontact cases—neither student had any contact with our campus or community members while contagious. Therefore, there is no risk to the Adelphi community at this time.

Our thoughts are with both students as they begin their recovery process while in isolation. We recognize that this growing pandemic may bring about news of other family members, friends and individuals in our community who test positive for COVID-19. Please know that we maintain our commitment to alert you and take all necessary safety measures should there be any confirmed contact and exposure risks for our Adelphi community. We would like to also reassure you that our housekeeping staff in the Facilities Management Department continues to utilize hospital-grade cleaning products and protocols.

As a reminder, if any member of our community becomes ill, it is important to call your doctor first, before seeking medical care, to prevent exposure in the community. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and/or shortness of breath.

Please continue to visit for regularly updated information.
