Online Learning to Continue Through the End of the Spring Semester

Dear Adelphi Community,

As federal and state authorities continue to monitor the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we at Adelphi continue to take steps to protect our community members and their families by reducing in-person activities and group gatherings. Because it has become clear that this situation is going to take widespread and sustained efforts over an unknown period of time, we have made the decision to extend the online learning that will begin on March 23 through the remainder of the spring semester.

Classes will not meet in person the duration of the term and we have advised our resident students to return home. With the exception of resident or international students who are unable to return home due to travel restrictions or other extreme circumstances, all students should plan to leave campus with their belongings as soon as possible. Requests to stay on campus will be considered on a case-by-case basis as we strive to reduce the number of people on campus per government and public health guidance.

Please watch your email later this week for comprehensive information about our transition to online learning, resources to support your experience, ordering books, accessing library services online, student support services, and more.

Whether you are away from campus for Spring Break or preparing to leave due to the shift to remote learning for the rest of the semester, we encourage you to observe and follow the advice of the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health, including “social distancing” such as avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people, maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others when possible, washing your hands often—and using hand sanitizer when you can’t, avoid touching your face, cancel non-essential travel, and most of all—stay home if you feel sick.

Please watch your email for additional information about what to expect and how to prepare for spring semester continuing entirely online, and stay up to date on campus news and announcements by visiting adelphi.edu/coronavirus.

Your wellbeing continues to be our top priority and I urge you to work with us to help protect you, your loved ones, and our community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Everett Signature
